Das Institut für Kunstwissenschaft und Bildende Kunst setzt sich aus den Teilgebieten Kunstdidaktik, Kunstgeschichte und Kunstpraxis zusammen. Als integrale Bestandteile repräsentieren die Bereiche alle Facetten des künstlerischen Lehramtsstudiums im Bachelor und Master. Ergänzend dazu bietet das Basisfach im Zwei-Fach-Bachelor die Schwerpunkte Kunstgeschichte und Kunstpraxis in einer einzigartigen Verknüpfung an.
Als Studienort mit hohen Praxisanteilen sticht das Institut auch in räumlicher Hinsicht aus der Universitätslandschaft heraus: Die nach den spezifischen Anforderungen von Studium und Lehre umgebaute historische Reithalle beheimatet seit 2018 neben den künstlerischen Werkstätten sowie zahlreichen Ateliers für Studierende auch Seminar- und Veranstaltungsräume.
The Institute of Art History and Fine Arts combines the sub-disciplines of art didactics, art history, and art practice. As integral components, the areas represent all facets of the bachelor‘s and master‘s degree programs in art pedagogy. This is complemented by the core curriculum in the two-subject bachelor‘s degree, which offers a unique combination of art history and art practice.
As a place of study that emphasizes practical experience, the institute further stands out from the university in respect to its facilities: Since 2018, the historic riding hall (Reithalle), which was converted to meet the specific requirements of study and instruction, has been home not only to artistic workshops and numerous studios for students, but also to seminar and event rooms.
